Testimonials

I have had the rewarding experience of having Coach Lechuga and his staff from North Georgia Hayastan MMA work with our wrestling team and provide us with outstanding technique that we have incorporated into our wrestling practices.  I have witnessed our wrestlers winning key matches using MMA techniques and moves.  His staff has been professional and our wrestlers buy into their philosophy.  I have coached wrestling for over 22 years and I believe by introducing MMA moves our team has been elevated to a higher level.

I’ve trained with North Georgia Hayastan for a long time and they make you feel like family. I’ve been to several gyms over the years and and none of them compare.  The Instructors, they take their time and are very good at what they teach, and work well with kids and are patient with everyone. I would highly recommend Team Hayastan to anyone who wants to learn jiu jitsu, boxing, wrestling, and self defense or to just get in great shape.

I am immensely thankful for the incredible journey I’ve embarked upon with mixed martial arts at Hayastan Academy in Dalton, Georgia. As a former Division 2 collegiate basketball player, I needed something to fill the void once my basketball career ended, and mixed martial arts has been the perfect fit. This art form has been transcendent in my growth from a young adult into a man, teaching me discipline, boosting my confidence, and encouraging me to challenge myself continually. The fellowship at Hayastan is something I truly love; it has a family feel that sets it apart. It’s not a gym filled with egos or hotheads but a supportive community where everyone lifts each other up. Coach Nalo and Coach David have been phenomenal mentors, guiding me with patience and wisdom as I grow as a student of the art. Their dedication has inspired me to push my limits and embrace the continuous learning
process inherent in mixed martial arts.

I strongly advocate for children learning mixed martial arts, as it offers an enriching extracurricular activity they can eagerly look forward to. This discipline challenges them to be coachable, to persevere through complex tasks, and to develop emotional self-regulation. Many people mistakenly believe that mixed martial arts is centered on violence, but in reality, it is about exercising both the body and mind, learning humility, and being teachable. The lessons learned in the gym transcend the mats, fostering a sense of accomplishment and resilience that benefits all aspects of life.

My son [    ] has ADHD. He has a hard time regulating his emotions. Especially anger. At home we have our own ways of dealing with big emotions. (We hug it out) He started getting in trouble at school and  I was lost on how to help him deal with it while at school.
[      ] started jiu-jitsu a year ago. Over the last year he has improved tremendously. He went from losing his temper over every little thing to being able to put his hand up and walk away. Being in jiu jitsu has also strengthened his ability to focus and pay closer attention to details. This class is teaching so much more than just self defense. It teaches integrity, accountability and self-reliance.
